Bone and Soft tissue sarcoma is a rare but deadly disease that accounts for approximately 1% of all cancers in adults and 20% of all cancers in children. Sarcomas arise from the muscles, nerves, bone, fat and blood vessels in the body. Each year, approximately 14,000 new cases of bone and soft tissue sarcomas are diagnosed and close to 6,000 people die as a result of this disease. Because sarcomas are rare, research has been limited and thus improvements in treatment and search for a cure have been stunted.
Stronger than Sarcoma strives to raise awareness, advance research and secure resources to strengthen the fight to cure sarcomas. The main fundraising event is the Stronger than Sarcoma Soiree where all proceeds go to fund research initiatives at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
